What to see at Neuschwanstein Castle
The building began in 1869 but the King ran out of money so all the rooms were completed. Among the completed ones are his bedroom which houses a huge gothic style bed. There is also an artificial grotto which is inspired by the opera Tannhauser and an elaborate Throne room in Byzantine style with a mosaic floor created with over 2 million stones.
The best view and photo opportunity of the Castle is from Mary’s Bridge a 10 minute walk. The bridge crossed over the Pollat Gorge with a waterfall just above the castle. A truly breathtaking view.
