This beautiful town offers much for the visitor and is a wonder place to wonder around on foot. The old town is filled with shops, cafes and restaurants. Its main street the Cour Mirabeau is a lovely wide avenue and is said to be the second most beautiful street in France after the Champs Elysees in Paris.
You should not miss its Cathedral with its various architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance. The town has scores of fountains the most popular being La Rotunde which is at the end of the Cours Mirabeau in Place Charles de Gaulle. If you like art you will want to visit the Cezanne Museum.
Aix en Provence is a good base city to see many other parts of the region such as Arles, Baux de Provence and others.
