Innsbruck Old Town – The Golden Roof

The Golden Roof in the heart of the city, is the symbol of Innsbruck and a top tourist attraction. It was built by Archduke Friedrich IV in the 15th century. The roof has 2,600 gold-plated copper tiles. Today the Golden Roof Museum is a great place to visit.
In its six rooms one can learn about emperor as well as get a glimpse of everyday life of the time. There is a special room for children where the museum mascot “Kunz von der Rosen” guides them on their journey into the past.
